Golf Courses

At Mt. Irvine. Avid Golfers has two beautiful golf courses to choose from:

  • Mt. Irvine's Golf Course ( 2-3 minutes driving distance from our Villa).

  • Tobago Plantations Golf Course

Mt. Irvine's Golf Course:

The course at Mt. Irving is situated in what use to be an old coconut plantation, and is still spotted by many large coconuts palms. This championship course is up on the coast of Tobago, and golfers will be looking onto the waters of the Caribbean from every hole.

This course has made itself a well-established place to play a few rounds, having been built in 1968. Commander John D. Harris is the designer of the course. It has earned a course rating of 70.7, and its 18 holes measure out to a total of 6498 yards. Also note that they've got a golf professional, Carlton Faustin, available at the course who can help newbies perfect their skills or provide more advanced tips for seasoned players.

The course makes use of the region's hilly terrain, and the undulating greens can prove quite difficult at times. The fairways are narrow, winding, and lined by coconut palms. The greens are moderately bunkered, and water hazards come into play on four holes.

Tobago Plantations Golf Club:

The Par-72, 18 hole course has been woven into the landscape of an old coconut plantation. The landscape varies greatly throughout the course with lakes, woodland thickets, beaches, mangroves and wild grass providing each hole with a very distinctive character of true Tobago golf. The course is a good test of the game for golfers of all levels.

The flat terrain of just over 7,000 yards has been sensitively modified to utilize indigenous plants and increase the habitat diversity for wildlife. There are characteristic pot bunkers sunk into the greensides, and a Par 4 that goes out onto the peninsula to enjoy panoramic views of Scarborough, the capital of Tobago, and the adjacent Atlantic Ocean. All the holes have four tee positions.

In stark contrast to the coastline holes, others weave their way through mature palm trees and surrounding mangroves. Artificial lakes and wetlands have been created and developed to regenerate nature.
